Throughout the year, the Committee analyzes key aspects of racquetball for women, develops strategies to increase participation, plans and promotes activities and functions for women, supports charitable causes like Racquet for the Cure, and provides an avenue for women to express their concerns to USA Racquetball.

"Somewhere behind the athlete you've become, the hours of practice, the coaches who push you, and the fans who cheer you, is the little girl who fell in love with the sport and never looked back. Play for her." -- Unknown

Ladies Night Out-US OPEN

Ladies Night Out--2011 US OPEN

“Ladies Night Out” – Hubert’s Bar & Grill – Minneapolis, MN

There was a great turnout of women at the 2011 US Open Racquetball Championships held in Minneapolis the first week of October.  Of the 130 ladies who registered for competition over 50 – along with a few special gentlemen – joined the USAR Women’s Committee for “Ladies Night Out” at Hubert’s Bar & Grill at the Target Center for drinks, appetizers, and good company.  Each lady who attended also received a gift bag, which included a veritable rainbow of racquetballs.   Some of the ladies enjoyed the games that were available, comparing their skills at shuffleboard and darts.  The raffle, which is becoming a tradition at the ladies’ gatherings, was very successful.  (Thanks to everyone who participated as the proceeds go towards supporting the event.)   This year there was even a “consolation” raffle with free tickets given to anyone who participated in but did not win something in the main raffle.  The Women’s Committee would like to express its appreciation to all the manufacturers and “friends of the committee” who donated the more than 30 items that were raffled off at this year’s event.

Merijean Kelley and Cheryl KirkCheryl Kirk, USAR BoDs President, also took this opportunity to present Merijean Kelley with a memento for her years of service to the USAR Board.

Win or lose, we hope that everyone at the tournament had their successes and memorable moments.   Results can be viewed at http://www.r2sports.com/tourney/viewResults.asp?TID=8251.
